Wow, What a few weeks it has been. Three months of work and back with a bang! Everyone is super busy with training, and of course, going about their teaching lives. There are no test dates at all! What are you up to DVSA?
The driving test appointment saga continues. If you were lucky to have had a driving test appointment prior to lockdown 3.0 you are one of the lucky ones to pass your driving test this summer! If you didn’t have a driving test appointment, the chances of you passing your test this side of the summer are going to be a tough challenge.
The DVSA has announced: the recruitment of 600 new driving examiners. These driving examiners have yet to be trained and are still on the queue to see whether they have been lucky in their application. How long will it take for the driving examiners to be enrolled, trained, and placed into their job? It normally takes 9 months from the job offer to completion. So, I think this may be placed at the end of the year.
Driving instructors are feeling the pinch! The phone ringing late at night, pupils desperate for training, and some pupils throwing money at bewildered instructors just to be able to have a driving test. Our own company has had a huge volume of inquiries from desperate students from all over the UK. Some, with tests but no instructor, and the other ones with an instructor but no driving test. Some driving test centres are operating with extended hours and the other lot – restricted to 6 test slots a day.
What is going on? DVSA can we please have some direct information to ascertain these strange times. I guess not! But we have been lucky to have had a response from the DVSA!
